AVT Manifesto on the occasion of the 7th UN International Day of Commemoration and Homage to the Victims of Terrorism
In the framework of this 7th United Nations International Day of Commemoration and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, our association wishes to pay a heartfelt tribute to all the victims who have suffered the terrible consequences of terrorist barbarity. This day, dedicated to memory and reflection, places the victims at the center, recognizing their pain, their struggle and, above all, their fundamental role as defenders of the true story.
This seventh day of commemoration, under the slogan “Victims of terrorism as defenders and educators of peace”, puts the focus on the real heroes of our society, the victims of terrorism. That is why we want to highlight the importance of the legacy of the victims of terrorism. The stories of those who have been affected by terrorism not only move us, but also inspire us to work for a more just and free world. Through their testimonies, victims of terrorism have become powerful agents of change, promoting the values of tolerance, respect and solidarity.
Today is a day to remember all the victims of terrorism, wounded and broken families that the scourge of terrorism has left worldwide. They are the engine of our struggle and their memory, what keeps us standing. They are the force that pushes us to continue fighting for the true defeat of terrorism. To do otherwise, to do nothing, would be to betray them. To betray those who gave their lives for us.
The impact of terrorism is not limited to a specific moment. Its effects linger in the lives of victims and their families, who often must rebuild their lives in the midst of grief and loss. However, many of these victims have found in their experience the strength to speak out against terrorism to educate society about the devastating consequences of radicalization and hatred.
On this day, we call on the international community, governments, and society as a whole to not only remember the victims of terrorism, but also to recognize their ability to contribute to the common good. Their experience gives them a unique perspective that is essential in the fight against radicalism and in building a just society.
In addition, we urge educational institutions and the media to join this effort, giving a voice to the victims and promoting initiatives that allow their stories to be heard by new generations. It is crucial that young people understand the value of freedom and the dangers of terrorism, and there is no one better than the victims themselves to convey these messages.
On behalf of our association, we reaffirm our commitment to support all victims of terrorism, to preserve their memory and to ensure that their legacy continues to inspire society. Today, more than ever, it is essential to recognize the role of victims as the bearers of the true story who, through their experiences, teach us the true meaning of struggle and hope.
